Many Teen Spirit members want to use their creativity to think about the issues that affect their lives. Through song writing, poetry, film and spoken word we have developed projects that not only allow members to do this, but provide the opportunity to develop skills and expereince that can be utilsed outside of Teen Spirit. Here are a few examples to give you a taste:
Project Jam
This music skills group introduces the basics of a range of instruments including electric, acoustic and bass guitars, keyboards and drums. The project runs an informal ‘jam session’ during the earlier part of the evening, but a more focussed teaching and song writing session during workshop time.
Teen Spirit musicans have performed ‘live’ at a number of events.
Teen Spirit is lucky to benefit from the expert input from professional photographers who have been able to work over an 8 week period through the concept of ‘Life in my Shoes’. Learning how to set up a shoot, basic photographic techniques and digital darkroom skills are just some of the benefits young people take away.

Film making has always had a place at Teen Spirit. Whether it’s the opportunity to work with volunteers from the film industry or the chance to get in the studio to learn the basics of editing, there is always a project on the go with Teen Spirit members at the centre.
For young people at Teen Spirit, film making is about having a way to express yourself and connect to the wider world. You’ll see lots of evidence of this work throughout the website, from stop frame animations to short films.
Fashion has a great appeal with Teen Spirit members. Fashion Projects are a great chance to really get ‘hands on’ creatively! Activities run throughout the year and take a number of formats, including: Projects for members to create fashion labels and collections; courses teaching a range of design and creative skills; clothes recycling and customisation workshops; T-shirt design and much more.
A Teen Spirit fashion show is always on the calendar of events to showcase the latest creations.
Like many other programmes, we always aim bring in professionals from the industry to add their expertise and provide advice for anyone who wants to find a way into the fashion world.
