The Launch Pad is all about helping young people take control of their futures. At Teen Spirit we understand that HIV can make life incredibly challenging and dreams and aspirations seem further away. Many young people are left to struggle on, unable to ask for support that would make a diffrence.
We want to help every member to have the confidence and self belief to strive for clear goals, with the support to get there. It is an opportunity for members to get vital input to help move forward with work, school and college.
Launch Pad is a dedicated programme that provides the space, resources, expertise and consistency to help every Teen Spirit member to aspire and achieve.
When you join Teen Spirit we like to get a picture of where you are at with studies or work. These are some of the ways members can access Launch Pad:
Literacy & Numeracy Support:
We want to check that everyone has a solid foundation of literacy and numeracy skills, providing help where needed to reach the required level.
Launch Pad Check-In:
A regular Launch Pad Check-In for all members is the best way to help stay on track. Whatever challenges arise, there is always a solution. If a longer term plan is needed, we will work with you every step of the way.
Launch Pad Drop-In:
Every Thursday evening, Launch Pad Drop-In provides tutors to help you through coursework, homework or revision.
Launch Pad ‘Get Ahead’ Sessions:
Throughout the year, workshops are geared up to providing tailored advice and support. They cover choosing your options, applying to university, study skills, exam preparation and revision techniques, to name a few.
The workshops also provide a chance to meet invited guests from a range of industries and professions. This is an opportunity to hear from inspiring people, to broaden horizons but also understand your own formula for success.
Your formula for success might require having one special person who can be there to help you overcome your obstacles.
Launch Pad is developing a mentoring programme to match young people with trained mentors to be there as their own personal motivator, sounding board, organiser, advisor, experts… or whatever is required.
Mentors bring personal and professional experience as a priceless resource that is at the disposal of Teen Spirit members.
Coming to the Body & Soul website soon, the new Teen Spirit secure site features the opportunity to gain online study support. This is targeted, expert academic support for young people living with, or affected by HIV.
Teen Spirit members will be able to log in and work online with a team of Launch Pad teachers.
