Join the community
Volunteers have always been central to Body & Soul. Without volunteer’s skills, energy and ideas we would not be able to deliver the life changing programmes to members of all ages impacted by childhood adversity.
We understand that the process of freely choosing to give your time, care, energy and skills is a beautiful human act that is a foundation on which our community is built. Becoming a volunteer means becoming a member of our community, contributing to a completely unique brand of care and support to our members. As with all members, we tailor our volunteer roles as much as possible so that skills and interests are aligned. We provide ongoing training and encourage volunteers to contribute ideas in an environment of inclusion and collaboration. Below are the different ways to volunteer:
Regular Volunteering
Give a little love
Regular volunteers commit to a weekly or fortnightly role for a minimum of six months. Roles span across the organisation from frontline programmes to operations to communications and fundraising. Within the frontline programmes volunteers are assigned to one of a number of different roles – everything from facilitating workshops to providing one-to-one emotional support to providing remote support. We also have specialist roles for volunteers with experience in social work, law, nutrition, complementary therapies and creative arts to name a few!
Project Volunteering
Give a little skill
We are always thinking creatively about how we can meet the individual needs of our members and sometimes it requires the right mix of skills, knowledge and personality to find the magic formula. If you have a particular area of expertise that you would like to share – from yoga to guitar playing to boxing – you could join us periodically to lead a workshop or short course working across age groups and programmes.
Independent Volunteering
Give a little hope
Sporting challenges and cultural events are a great way for people to support Body & Soul in their own communities. Whether it’s the London Marathon, the British 10K, a workplace cake sale or a charity gig, we’d love to hear from people who are willing to put themselves to the test or to organise events where the proceeds go to Body & Soul. There’s no idea too big or too small as far as we’re concerned – our door is always open.
