Let’s Kill Suicide

1,000 young people attempt suicide in the UK every week.
Suicide is the leading killer of young people in the UK. Everyday an estimated 300-450 young people aged 16-35 in the UK attempt suicide, with rates now at their highest in 30 years. (Office of National Statistics, 2025) .
7% of young people have attempted suicide by the age of 17 (Young Minds, 2023). Too many lives are lost because the ‘systems of support’ only focus on crisis and leave those who have attempted in a cycle of despair.

What is Let’s Kill Suicide?
On the 10th of September, World Suicide Prevention Day, Body & Soul launches Let’s Kill Suicide, a bold new campaign from the mind of Peter Souter, one of the advertising industry’s most celebrated creatives. With powerful portraits by renowned British photographer Rachell Smith, shaped in close collaboration with members who bring their voices of lived experience, this campaign demands urgent change to a broken system. Amplified through earned media support from Burson Global PR and an essential petition hosted with 38 Degrees, Let’s Kill Suicide focuses on revolutionising suicide prevention.

I'm here because...

"I wanted to get better, but I also didn't want to be alive anymore... it was very confusing. Everywhere I was going, I wasn't getting the help I needed. Then eventually I was seen by Body & Soul. I felt heard. I felt listened to. I felt validated"

"I'm now over two years clean and happy, a reality that I couldn't even begin to imagine existed. But it does."

"It is important to remember that fear does not define you. Your strength, resilience, and capacity for love by seeking help, you are taking a brave steps towards reclaiming your life and creating a better future for yourself and your loved ones.”
