HIV & Life Beyond: For Displaced Communities

Since 1996, our HIV programme has been the heartbeat of Body & Soul, inspiring our pioneering suicide prevention work and nurturing a resilient, intentional healing community.

Life Beyond goes beyond the initial diagnosis, offering support grounded in a deep cultural understanding of the lived experiences of our diverse community. Many members have endured repeated trauma, including trafficking, war, and gender-based violence alongside systemic injustice, poverty, insecure housing, racial discrimination, and stigma.

The Programme

Our Life Beyond Community equips members with the consistent resources and structured support needed to navigate the dual challenges of living with HIV and being displaced in the UK. At its core is a safe, non-judgmental community that nurtures belonging, building resilience, mental health and physical wellbeing.

Tailored pathways address practical needs such as health, advocacy, housing and family. By stabilising these foundational needs, the programme creates the space for emotional growth, self- efficacy and improved health outcomes. . Adults and children benefit from monthly community evenings and ongoing specialist groups, online and in person, ensuring continuous, structured support.

Through evidence-based therapies, creative and embodied practices, and holistic wellbeing activities, members and their families can heal, thrive, and rebuild lives within a vibrant, transformative community.

"I had lost my family to war, became homeless, diagnosed HIV positive and faced repeated asylum setbacks. I thought all hope was gone. Body & Soul gave me a place to be heard, to get help, and to start healing, I don’t know how I could have carried on without them."
